Brow Lift In Grass Valley, CA
Signs of aging and exhaustion are affected by many factors, including genetics, sun exposure, lifestyle choices, and time itself. No matter the cause, a sagging brow can significantly detract from your overall appearance, affecting the first impression you make and eventually dent your confidence. Many patients with brow ptosis believe they look perpetually tired, angry, or sad.
A brow lift at the Élan Clinic is a specialized procedure designed to address signs of aging, specifically across the forehead and brows. Dr. Lattyak works to create unique surgical plans that support the most optimal, natural-looking results for his brow lift patients.
What Is a Brow Lift?
A forehead lift or brow lift is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad, or tired.
In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows, and minimize frown lines; the result is smoother forehead skin and a more animated appearance.
Learn More About Dr. LattyakWhat Are the Benefits of a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is ideal for patients with localized creases, wrinkles, and sagging skin on the forehead or above the eyebrows. The effects of these aging concerns can result in a tired, worn, or angry appearance, with droopy or low-set eyebrows and excess upper eyelid skin. A brow lift reduces these issues, smoothing the forehead for a youthful, open appearance. Additionally, a brow lift can:
- Improve the aesthetic shape and position of the eyebrows
- Lift sagging, drooping skin above the eyes
- Restore a more youthful and alert appearance
- Improve the appearance of the eyes and other facial features
- Reduce deep-set forehead and brow wrinkles
Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
A forehead lift is most commonly performed in the 40-60 age range to minimize the visible effects of aging. However, it can also help people of any age who have developed forehead lines from repeatedly raising their eyebrows or furrows and frown lines due to stress or muscle activity. With this procedure, individuals with inherited or acquired conditions, such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose or aged, tired-looking eyebrows and eyes, can achieve a more alert and refreshed look.
Patients who are bald, have thinning hair, a receding hairline, or have had previous upper-eyelid surgery may still be good candidates for forehead lifts. In such cases, Dr. Lattyak may alter the incision location or perform a more conservative operation to provide the optimal result. Remember, a forehead lift can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. Still, it won’t necessarily change your looks to match your ideal or cause others to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them in detail with Dr. Lattyak.
Good candidates for a brow lift:
- Want to refresh the upper brows and forehead for a more youthful look
- Have furrowed brows or deep creases they would like to remedy
- Are generally in good health
- Are nonsmokers, or are willing to quit
- Have reasonable expectations for results
What Are My Brow Lift Options?
Dr. Lattyak has decades of experience performing multiple techniques for brow lifts. He will choose the best option for you based on a few factors, such as the severity of brow ptosis (sagging) and forehead/frown lines, where the concentration of brow sagging is (in the center of the brow or the sides), the location of the patient’s natural hairline, and if a blepharoplasty or facelift is planned at the same time.
Dr. Lattyak will create a customized surgical plan that incorporates all of these factors and will also best serve your goals for the procedures. He will discuss all of your options with you at the time of your consultation.
Can I Combine A Brow Lift with Other Procedures?
You may want to combine facial enhancement procedures with your brow lift to create the most cohesive and successful result. This will depend on your goals and needs, as well as Dr. Lattyak’s expert opinion on whether any of these additional procedures will better help you achieve them.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) may also be performed simultaneously as a forehead lift, especially if a patient has significant skin overhang in the upper eyelids. Sometimes, patients who believe they need upper eyelid surgery find that a forehead lift or a combined forehead lift and upper blepharoplasty better meets their surgical goals.
Facelift or Mini Facelift
A facelift is often performed in conjunction with a brow lift to provide a smoother overall look to the face. A brow lift focuses on the upper section of the face, so if you have significant facial sagging around the mid-to-low face, a facelift will create a more harmonious appearance.

The Brow Lift Procedure
The nature of your specific procedure will vary depending on the techniques used. The following are some possible steps that may happen during a brow lift.
During a classic brow lift, your hair will be tied with rubber bands on either side of the incision line. No matter which type of brow lift is chosen, your hair will not be shaved, and your incisions will be designed to make the scars as inconspicuous as possible.
For many women, a temporal brow lift is a great option. The incisions are placed behind the temple hairline in the scalp to hide the scar. If your hairline is high or receding, the incisions may instead be placed just at the hairline to avoid raising the hairline even further; in this case, the incisions are carefully designed to preserve the hair follicles so that future hair growth will camouflage the hairline scar.
Depending on their hair pattern, special planning is sometimes necessary for men to conceal the scars, as hairstyles often don’t lend themselves as well to scar coverage. Men with dense hair in the temples and a low hairline may be good candidates for a temporal brow lift. However, a midforehead approach is often preferred in men with deep forehead creases, particularly if they are balding or have a receding hairline. With this technique, the incisions are placed inside the forehead lines; the scars will typically blend in with the natural creases as they mature and become camouflaged.
Dr. Lattyak may also adopt the following techniques in certain situations:
- The classic brow lift uses a coronal incision, which follows a headphone-like pattern in the scalp, starting at about ear level and running across the top of the forehead and down the other side of the head.
- The endoscopic brow lift involves multiple small incisions hidden inside the scalp and uses scopes and video cameras to perform the procedure.
- The transblepharoplasty brow lift is performed through an upper blepharoplasty incision in patients getting a combination procedure.
When the brow lift is complete, the scalp incisions will be closed with stitches, and the area will be washed. Gauze and an elastic compression bandage may also be placed, depending on the technique chosen.
During your consultation, Dr. Lattyak will be happy to explain the pros and cons of each technique and help you choose a tailor-made treatment plan.
What Is Brow Lift Recovery Like?
Although you should be up and about in a day or two, plan on taking it easy for at least the first week after surgery. You should be able to shower and shampoo your hair within two days or as soon as the bandage is removed.
Most patients return to work or school in a week to 10 days. Physical activity should be limited for several weeks, including jogging, bending, heavy housework, sexual activity, or any exercise that increases your blood pressure. Prolonged exposure to heat or sun should be limited for several months.
Most of the visible signs of surgery, such as swelling and bruising, should fade within a few. Minor swelling and bruising can be concealed with special camouflage makeup. You may feel a bit tired and let down at first, but your energy level will increase as you begin to look and feel better.
When Will I See My Brow Lift Results?
While it will take a few weeks or more to enjoy the total aesthetic result as the bruising and swelling subside, most patients can appreciate the enhanced brow position and shape as soon as the bandages are removed. Often, patients don’t realize how much their sagging forehead contributed to the signs of aging until they see how much younger and more rested they appear after the lift. Although a forehead lift does not stop the clock, it can minimize the appearance of aging for years. As time passes, you may want to repeat the procedure.
